Bead Weaving Group
Solera Bead Weavers Information
In 2006, under the leadership of Rabia Tisrit, a Bead Weaving Group of six Solera residents was founded. In 2018 they were one of the three groups that merged to become the Handcrafted Creations Club.
In forming this group, the Solera Bead Weavers joined in continuing an ancient art form. The first bead weaving of natural materials found by archeologists were determined to have been made during the Eurasian Ice Age (26,000 – 23,000 B.C.E.). In other “digs” in Egypt, India, China, Mesopotamia, and Israel the wall depictions and early written texts give many examples of beautiful bead weaving.
The Solera Bead Weavers are a prime example of the creativity, patience, and dedication needed to produce beautiful examples of this craft.
